Would you like to have an original T-shirt? You can use your own photo and just by few editing in Photoshop you can make your text photo t shirt design. Simply place a text picture on a t-shirt. Just need two things a Picture and text and here we go. You can use text from something you like or just your name. It’s an awesome idea to have a unique t shirt which you can use as gifting purpose too.

I have tried to demonstrate how to make a picture with thousands of words, it easy than it sounds, I would rate the skill level needed with Photoshop to do this one to be about a little more than a beginner. The choice of a photo you use is also critical a non dramatic straight forward head shot with not too much contrast would be ideal.

Here at Customyourshirt, we love all things “T-Shirt”, and love to see what folks from other countries like to print on their tees. Some of the funniest artwork comes via cross-cultural misunderstanding, particularly between Asia and the West. It’s a matter of “if it looks good, it must be cool”. We’ve collected a few samples of what happens when people don’t understand the text of another language. Some samples are unprintable, so we’ve kept it clean. It makes us wonder what on earth our own shirts actually say, when we buy a shirt with Chinese or Japanese text

Here are just a few samples of what happens when we don’t understand a language, and go off to buy a tee-shirt. Some shirts obviously have blocks of text lifted from books or magazines, and placed artistically on the shirt, without the slightest understanding of the text meaning. …hope you enjoy these, we’ll put some more up later.

Many customers order t-shirts for special purposes, such as office parties, bucks nights, hens parties, seminars etc. for a group of friends or employees. Some of the designs and ideas for these shirts are very innovative, and provide a way to keep a group together at a club or venue. One of our customers sent us some small samples of artwork, with instructions for the finished designs. One of these designs was a picture of a robot with one arm slightly raised. The customer wished us to find a high quality picture of a jacket, and with the aid of Photoshop, place the jacket in the hand of the robot, with a message underneath.  Another of the designs was to be a clock, with all the numbers to be “9″, instead of a normal cloock face.  Here are the artwork and t-shirt samples which resulted in some innovative designs for the group’s special night out:

And so, your designs are only limited by your imagination!  These designs all had to be re-designed by our art department, to produce clean, crisp artwork for our customer’s t-shirts. We receive many requests for t-shirts to be printed with superhero designs. The designs are often downloaded from the web, from an official site, which can cause problems regarding copyright. The pictures are also mostly very low in resolution, and too small to print on a t-shirt. So if you want to use a copyrighted picture, make sure you seek permission first, to avoid legal issues.

However, many individuals and companies avoid this problem, by drawing their own unique designs, or by changing the design  so that they don’t infringe copyright laws. We recently printed some shirts for a company which did just this…the design vaguely resembles a superhero opening his shirtfront, to reveal his superhero costume underneath. The message on the chest area is very effective in promoting the company’s product.

You will see underneath, the original small shirt sample we received, then the new t-shirt design we were asked to draw, the new shirt sample, and what the new artwork looks like closer up:

And so, our customer chose this design as a way for all his staff to promote his company’s product, by wearing a shirt with a more eye-catching design than just a company logo.

Like photography, sometimes a picture or design looks far more effective in black and white, than in colour.  The example we have for you today is a fantastic little design sent in by a customer, to be printed in black, on one of our classic white t-shirts. The design is so simple, yet creates a bit of an optical illusion. Part of the text says “Schroedinger’s cat is dead” and the other text says “Schroedinger’s cat is alive” ! Maybe you can use this example to create your own spin on the design?

Other designs which print extremely well in one or two colours are tribal tattoo designs, and African designs, as well as negative silhouettes and cartoon designs made from photographs. Escher’s optical illusions  also look amazing on polo shirts and tees. Here are a couple of examples:
