We receive many requests for t-shirts to be printed with superhero designs. The designs are often downloaded from the web, from an official site, which can cause problems regarding copyright. The pictures are also mostly very low in resolution, and too small to print on a t-shirt. So if you want to use a copyrighted picture, make sure you seek permission first, to avoid legal issues.

However, many individuals and companies avoid this problem, by drawing their own unique designs, or by changing the design  so that they don’t infringe copyright laws. We recently printed some shirts for a company which did just this…the design vaguely resembles a superhero opening his shirtfront, to reveal his superhero costume underneath. The message on the chest area is very effective in promoting the company’s product.

You will see underneath, the original small shirt sample we received, then the new t-shirt design we were asked to draw, the new shirt sample, and what the new artwork looks like closer up:

Here is the new t-shirt design which was drawn up by our art department:

And here’s what the customer’s new superhero design looks like on a t-shirt sample:

And so, our customer chose this design as a way for all his staff to promote his company’s product, by wearing a shirt with a more eye-catching design than just a company logo.

With screen printing, sometimes we need to redraw a company logo from a low resolution photo, or a scrunched up piece of cloth.
We can often recreate a logo, depending upon the distortion of the artwork sent to us. Here is an example which needed to be redrawn in Illustrator, as the customer’s original artwork had been lost.
Once a vector drawing has been made with the pen tool, the file is then saved as an EPS, or an Illustrator file, and can then be printed at any size, crisply and with no distortion.

High quality artwork is the only way to garanty a sharp print so we will let you know if we need to redraw your artwork.
